The Indiana Fever drew even in its first-round playoff series against the Las Vegas Aces on Tuesday night with a 99-89 win at Gainbridge Fieldhouse. As exciting as the game was on the floor, Indiana once again failed to have a game without any extracurricular activity.

In the fourth quarter, as an Aces comeback effort was gaining momentum, reigning league MVP A’ja Wilson drew a foul and earned free throw shots. However, after the foul, a Fever fan pointed at her and had some words that Wilson took exception to.

The Aces star approached the fan and had some words of her own for him. Ultimately, the two were separated by Wilson’s teammates, the Aces staff, and stadium security, but she was still assessed a technical foul for the moment.

Following the game, the Fever announced the organization’s official decision on how to proceed regarding the exchange, per The Athletic’s James Boyd.

“Following a report of a comment directed toward a player, arena security spoke with the fan involved and witnesses,” Indiana said via statement. “Security determined there was no violation of the Fan Code of Conduct, the fan was not removed from the arena. We consider the matter closed.”

Wilson had a statement of her own in her post-game presser.

“You never should stand and point at me,” Wilson asserted. “I’m not, I’m not, I’m not for that sh*t at all. Excuse my French, and God bless me, but that there is unacceptable. And how he gets back in the game because they said he didn’t do anything; of course he didn’t. And that’s fine. But, and I apologize to my team because I got us a tech and I’m really, but it’s just certain things that I’m just not going to allow anymore because it’s just unacceptable

“So don’t— you don’t know me at all to come and step towards me and point at me and say anything out your mouth. So yeah, I apologize to my team for that.”

“You don’t have to love me,” Wilson added. “You can hate me with all your heart, but you don’t know me. But I guarantee you, you will respect me.”

The Fever and Aces will meet for a winner-take-all Game 3 on Thursday in Las Vegas.
