The Lee volleyball team broke open a tight first set with a pair of aces by Avery Sample to give the Lady Flames a 10-6 lead and forced a timeout by visiting Christian Brothers University. Lee tallied five straight points, resulting in a 15-7 advantage and forced another TO by the visitors. After turning back a comeback by the Bucs, the Lady Flames claimed the first-set win by a 25-17 margin and never looked back in the 25-12, 25-15 (3-0) victory at Walker Arena on Friday evening.

Lee improved to 3-1 in GSC play and 7-4 overall while Christian Brothers dropped to 0-4, 4-11. The Lady Flames will return to conference play on Saturday afternoon when they host Union University in a 4 p.m. affair.

The balanced Lee attack saw six different Lady Flames get in on the action. Sophia Lippert led the way with nine kills, 22 receptions and nine digs. Payton Danley followed closely with eight kills and a team-high .389 attack mark. She tied teammate Esthefany Rabit and Olivia Reevey with three blocking assists.

Jordyn Butler continued her solid overall play with seven kills and a .312 attack percentage. Butler added two blocking assists. Jasmine Terry and Reevey joined in with five kills apiece while Reevey hit .333 on the attack mark and Terry an even .300. As a team, the Lady Flames had 40 kills and an attack percentage of .287 while Christian Brothers came up with only 20 kills and .010 attacking.

Berra Soyler and Sydney Sharpe were the Lee assists leaders. Soyler had 15 and Sharpe 13. Sample set the pace with her two early aces while Sharpe pitched in with a pair. Sample went to the deck for her team-leading 16 digs while Jenny Brock dug up nine. All totaled, the Lady Flames had 56 digs to 43 for the Bucs.

Ana Clara Sacca Beltran and Alana Martinez had five kills each to lead the visitors. Emma Pomaret had 11 assists while Sophia Nowacki came away with 13 digs. Elisabeth Edwards went to the net for three blocking assists.
