According to statements made to this newspaper by several eyewitnesses, two individuals came down the stairs from the Paseo de la Farola leading to the premises and allegedly opened fire on the victim.

The gunshots caused moments of panic and uncertainty among customers in the area, who initially mistook the noise for fireworks before realising the seriousness of the situation and fleeing.

The victim of the shooting was shot in the face, according to sources close to the investigation: “It’s a miracle he survived,” they told SUR. The man was rushed to hospital where he underwent surgery.

After firing the shots, the suspects fled on foot. Officers from the Local Police and the National Police quickly arrived at the scene, cordoning off the area to secure it and begin collecting evidence; the perpetrators have not yet been located.

Meanwhile, the emergency services treated the injured man at the scene. He was rushed to hospital with two gunshot wounds. The police are continuing their investigation to establish the circumstances of the incident.

Later forensic officers arrived at the scene as well as members of Udyco, the drugs and organised crime squad.

The man was apparently staying at a hotel and travlled to Muelle Uno by car, which he parked in the udnerground car park. He was having dinner in the restaurant Plaza accompanied by a friend, also Turkish, and two women.

Their table was located on the outdoor terrace near the restairant Gorki.

"He was as calm as anything and just fired right next to my ear", said a member of staff, still shaking.

The suspects, whose faces were uncovered, immediately fled the scene. The investigation continues.

The shooting comes less than a week after a young man, Nacho, was killed in the Barcenillas area of the city, where three Swedish nationals allegedly opened fire on the young man who they saw as a threat.

The 20-year-old was sitting on a bench when he was shot at least twice. He was able to drag himself to the entrance to a local supermarket to call for help, however he died later that day in hospital.
