NEW YORK, September 29. /TASS/. The first crewed flight of Boeing’s Starliner spacecraft since 2024 is planned by 2028, NASA Administrator Jared Isaacman said.

Before launching the spacecraft with a crew, NASA plans to conduct an uncrewed Starliner flight to the International Space Station (ISS) in 2027, followed by a crewed mission. The current plan is to return astronauts to Starliner-2 by 2028, Isaacman said at a press conference in Florida.

Astronauts Barry Eugene Wilmore and Sunita Williams arrived at the ISS aboard Starliner, which launched on June 5, 2024. It was the first crewed launch of Boeing’s spacecraft to the space station. Wilmore and Williams were initially expected to remain in orbit until June 18. Their return was later postponed, first until June 26 and then indefinitely, due to a spacecraft malfunction involving the failure of several maneuvering thrusters during docking with the ISS.

Starliner undocked from the ISS without a crew on September 7, 2024, and landed six hours later at the White Sands Missile Range in New Mexico. Wilmore and Williams returned to Earth on March 19, 2025, as part of the crew of a Crew Dragon spacecraft operated by US company SpaceX.
