MOSCOW, September 27. /TASS/. Ukraine's public debt has risen by roughly $4-5 billion over the past month, reaching approximately $223 billion by the end of September, according to TASS calculations based on data from the country's Finance Ministry.

At the end of August, the public debt stood at approximately $218-219 billion. The Ukrainian Finance Ministry projects that the debt will rise to about $240 billion by the end of 2026 and to at least $290 billion by the end of 2027. Consequently, the debt burden per Ukrainian citizen is expected to reach $8,500 by the end of 2026 and approximately $10,400 by the end of 2027.

However, the Ukrainian Finance Ministry estimates will likely prove lower than the actual volume of additional borrowing required. Kiev is already requesting an additional $27 billion from the European Union to cover military expenses.
