Dan Koh, the Democratic nominee for Massachusetts’ 6th Congressional District, isn’t taking anything for granted headed into the November election.
“There’s too much at stake here,” Koh said.
The former Biden administration aide, who also served as chief of staff to former Boston Mayor Marty Walsh, is facing Republican Micah Jones in the general election. Koh says the district is filled with voters who are diligently weighing their choices.
“We need to respect the fact that this is a district of free-thinking, thoughtful folks,” he said. “Maybe some have been involved in the primary and voted in the primary, but a lot of people haven’t.”
Much of Koh’s campaign has centered on combatting Trump administration policies. He recently said he believes the temperature needs to be turned up on President Donald Trump.
“I think that we are in a unique moment in our society, where our democracy is literally at risk every single day,” said Koh. “Hold him accountable, expose the corruption, and make sure it never happens again.”
Koh says he hasn’t met Trump and would have stipulations for working with the president on issues.
“If he has plans around Medicare for all, making sure that people have the ability to pay their bills, that there’s no copays anymore. If he is willing to end the war in Iran and bring gas prices down,” said Koh, “I’m all for it.”
Beyond Trump, Koh addressed issues like health care, utility costs and housing.
“Incentive-based things like low-income-housing tax credits to make the numbers work for developers,” said Koh.
He hopes those perspectives will resonate as voters head to the polls.
“It’s my job to deliver,” said Koh.
