NEW YORK, September 25. /TASS/. Iran still has no intention of obtaining a nuclear weapon, Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian told Fox News in an interview.

When asked whether his country had any desire to acquire a nuclear warhead, he said: "Absolutely no."

"Our martyred revered Supreme Leader [Ali Khamenei] said several times in the past that this is religiously forbidden. From the religious standpoint, it is prohibited to have a weapon of mass destruction," he added.

He reaffirmed his country’s readiness to observe the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT).

"We have never sought to obtain a nuclear weapon. We want to comply with the Non-Proliferation Treaty," the Iranian president said.
