You know when you find out a TV duo didn’t actually like each other in real life, and suddenly nothing feels real anymore? Well, that's what happened to Redditor u/Moat_of_the_Sacked after learning the truth about MythBusters hosts Adam Savage and Jamie Hyneman.
They wrote, "To some, Adam Savage and Jamie Hyneman of Mythbusters make up one of the most famous double-acts in film and/or television, with Savage being optimistic and Hyneman being pragmatic. But despite being entertaining for you and me, Adam states that he and Jamie butted heads pretty often because of their different personalities. And looking back at some of the episodes, I can really see how Jamie wants Adam to show a little maturity, while Adam wants Jamie to lighten up a little. While it is disheartening, it is the way it is."
Naturally, that disheartening realization led them to ask which other beloved TV duos were a whoooole lot less friendly once the cameras stopped rolling. People had some shocking answers, and these 14 may change how you view some of your faves' onscreen chemistry forever:

"Vivian Vance and William Frawley, who played Fred and Ethel Mertz on I Love Lucy. I was surprised to find out they hated each other."
Despite playing married couple Fred and Ethel Mertz on I Love Lucy, Vivian Vance and William Frawley famously couldn’t stand each other IRL. Their feud reportedly began when Frawley overheard Vance complaining about having to play the wife of a man 22 years older than her, and the bad blood continued throughout the show’s run. Still, they remained professional and never let it ruin their hilarious onscreen chemistry.

"Julianna Marguiles and Archie Panjabi played best friends on The Good Wife for six seasons, and for two of those seasons, they only interacted over the phone because they refused to be in a room together. When they finally did share a scene, it was done with split screen and body doubles."
Despite playing best friends Alicia and Kalinda on The Good Wife, Julianna Margulies and Archie Panjabi mysteriously stopped sharing scenes midway through Season 4, going more than 50 episodes without appearing together and often interacting by phone instead. When they finally appeared to reunite for Panjabi’s farewell in the Season 6 finale, TVLine confirmed that the actresses actually filmed separately, with body doubles and post-production used to make it look like they were together.
Margulies later dismissed feud rumors and suggested Panjabi’s work on The Fall contributed to the scheduling issue — only for Panjabi to publicly contradict her, saying The Fall “was not even in production at that time” and that she had been in New York ready to film. Neither actress has ever actually confirmed what happened between them, but talk about adding fuel to the feud rumors!!

"A huge surprise to find out it was a HATE hate between the Castle lead actors Nathan Fillion and Stana Katic IRL."
Nathan Fillion and Stana Katic reportedly had some serious tension behind the scenes of ABC's Castle. In 2016, an insider claimed the two “completely despise each other” and wouldn’t even speak when they weren’t filming, with the situation allegedly getting so bad that the costars were even sent to couples counseling to help them work together.
That same year, Katic was not asked to return for a potential ninth season, reportedly as a cost-cutting measure, while Fillion was expected to remain. Ultimately, ABC canceled the show altogether just weeks after her departure was announced.

Unlike some rumored TV feuds, the tension between Sex and the City costars Sarah Jessica Parker and Kim Cattrall has played out pretty publicly. In 2017, Cattrall said that she and her costars had “never been friends” and described their relationship as strictly professional. Things got even messier in 2018, when Cattrall publicly called out Parker after she offered condolences following the death of Cattrall’s brother, writing, “You are not my family. You are not my friend.”

Despite playing one of TV’s most iconic best-friend duos on Gossip Girl, Blake Lively and Leighton Meester apparently weren’t nearly as close IRL. Gossip Girl executive producer Joshua Safran flat-out said, “Blake and Leighton were not friends. They were friendly, but they were not friends like Serena and Blair. Yet the second they’d be on set together, it’s as if they were.”
And in reference to the "cage baby" comment, a resurfaced clip from a 2008 panel discussion shows Blake joking, "Well, some of us started in a cage," gesturing to Leighton — a remark widely interpreted to reference the fact that Leighton's mom was incarcerated when she was born. Ouch.

While Radar O’Reilly was one of M*A*S*H’s most lovable characters, Gary Burghoff reportedly wasn’t nearly as beloved by his costars. In a 1983 TV Guide article, writer Burt Prelutsky summed up the cast’s feelings about his departure as “fairly unanimous: loved Radar, hated Burghoff.” An anonymous cast member claimed Burghoff could be rude and prone to tantrums and had an especially tense relationship with Alan Alda.

Arthur, a Broadway veteran, preferred to stay focused and in character between takes, while White loved breaking character and joking with the studio audience — something Arthur reportedly found irritating. Still, the two respected each other professionally, making their relationship a little more complicated than a straightforward feud.

Bruce Willis and Cybill Shepherd’s constant bickering on Moonlighting apparently wasn’t all acting. Fans quickly assumed, though she never named the costar outright, that she was talking about Hannigan, since their characters were a couple and were almost always together when Benson was on-screen."

Years later, Benson described the set as a "toxic environment," with existing alliances and tensions among the cast.
