Wild video shows a man desperately clinging to a moving Tesla as another man allegedly pursues him carrying a knife

We all have rough moments on the road. That’s all the more possible when an accident happens. Road rage is never the answer. Allegedly pulling a knife and chasing after someone is all the more ridiculous. Nevertheless, that’s what reports out of Surrey, British Columbia, indicate happened. Frankly, you might want to buckle up because without authorities confirming the video, it looks so wild that some would think it’s staged.

Video from the scene, identified by police as Redwood Park, shows one man desperately trying to escape another who appears to be carrying a knife. Ultimately, authorities say a 37-year-old man was arrested and charged following the incident. That said, it’s the details and video that make this story as wild as it is.

Footage posted to Instagram begins with two vehicles apparently having already collided. A pickup truck and a Jeep can be seen near one another as a confrontation unfolds between two men. Things get much worse from there. One man begins running toward the person recording the incident while another gives chase. The pursuer emerges from the sunroof of the truck and appears to have a knife in his right hand.

The Tesla driver, somehow filming the incident and driving, realizes what’s happening and unlocks the car for the fleeing man. There isn’t enough time for a clean getaway, though. The driver begins reversing as the man grabs onto the car and tries desperately to get inside while his alleged attacker continues running after them.

For several tense seconds, he’s effectively hanging from the moving Tesla while the driver backs away. Eventually, they put enough distance between themselves and the other man for the victim to get safely inside. According to the person who recorded the encounter, police arrived minutes later and arrested the alleged attacker. The driver also claimed the man discarded the knife in the woods before officers arrived. Notably, Carscoops has not independently verified that portion of the account.

Local reports say Surrey Police Service subsequently charged a 37-year-old man following the incident at Redwood Park. The exact circumstances leading up to the confrontation remain less clear. That’s particularly important because several versions of the story are circulating on social media, including claims about the relationship between the people involved.

None of those explanations appear to have been publicly confirmed by police, so they’re best treated as speculation for now. Whatever caused the confrontation, the video itself leaves considerably less room for interpretation. Someone fleeing a man apparently armed with a knife found himself in an extraordinarily vulnerable position, and a complete stranger made the decision to unlock his car and get him out of there. In this case, being in the right place at the right time may have prevented an already ugly situation from becoming much worse.
