Overpronators, keep scrolling.
If you’re dealing with the polar opposite foot condition — supination, also known as underpronation — you’re likely all too familiar with the struggle of finding just-right sneakers that feature a neutral (versus stabilizing) design, a broad base, and enough cushioning to absorb the stress you put on the outer edges of your feet while walking or running.
Whether you’re a dedicated athlete or are simply looking to switch out your daily stepper with something that actually benefits your foot’s geometry as opposed to working against it — or, worse, overcorrecting the issue at hand — our editors are rounding up the top five sneakers for supination that will feel comfortable every mile of the way and errand run of the day.
In 2026, powerhouse footwear brands like Brooks and Nike are equipping their bestselling selections with specs that meet customers where they’re at. In context of supination, this means minimizing the possibility of injuries; doling out a smoother, plusher ride; and kicking underpronation’s common side effects (think plantar fasciitis, ankle pain, and shin splints) to the curb.
You might’ve acquired your supinating feet genetically or due to “overuse, injury, [and] muscle imbalances in your foot, ankle, or leg,” as Nike describes it, with high arches being yet another culprit. Regardless of the cause, we have the solution. For best results, pair the below bad boys with a specialized orthotic insert that will further amplify your podiatric bliss.
BEST OVERALL
Brooks Ghost 18 Sneaker$150
$150
Brooks’ Ghost 18, a 2026 release, has earned its stripes. It flaunts new-and-improved, nitrogen-infused cushioning that claims to feel “soft and dynamic” without weighing you down, a reimagined upper for more lockdown sans constriction, and a sockliner that will mold to the contours of your foot just so. This kick got an official Seal of Acceptance from the American Podiatric Medical Association, so you better believe it will carry you and your supination to the finish line (in style, we should add, courtesy of all those on-trend colorways).
The shoe is sold in widths up to an Extra Wide (4E), demonstrating just how accommodating — and worthy of your hard-earned money — it is.
RUNNER-UP
Hoka Clifton 11 Sneaker$154.95
$154.95
For a sneaker that doubles down on cushioning, turn to Hoka’s maximally padded Clifton 11 model. Its compression-molded foam doesn’t trade responsiveness for said cushiness, and the brand’s exaggerated MetaRocker will let your heel-to-toe transitions mimic the sensation of gliding through clouds.
Crucially, the Clifton 11 is backed by the Active Foot Frame innovation, which embeds the heel and foot at large within the shoe’s architecture — securing not only exceptional containment but also lateral support (without resorting to the rigid structural posts that are typically found in stability shoes meant for overpronation). This technology will keep your foot from rolling while avoiding the aforementioned, dreaded overcorrection, which is precisely why we put the top-rated style on our list.
BEST FOR WIDE FEET
New Balance 1080v15 Sneaker$169.99
$169.99
If you’ve been blessed twice — with supination and wide feet, that is — grabbing the 1080v15 from New Balance will kill two birds with one stone. Like its Brooks counterpart, the shoe is offered in Extra Wide, also priding itself on perks like superior energy return, a grippier-than-most outsole, and a lightweight build at just 208 grams. New Balance’s Infinion foam, too, is made for the long term: never entering “worn out” territory, even after many years and many miles of devoted wear.
Endorsed by athletes, the 1080v15 has the neutral support you need and the updated aesthetic (read: sculptural, textured mesh) your activewear equations crave.
BEST FOR RUNNING
Nike Alphafly 3 Sneaker$221.97 $295 25% off
$305
Featured on our roundup of the best shoes for running marathons, Nike’s Alphafly 3 is a beast that will keep on performing — during race days and training sessions alike. It’s a godsend for runners with supination, as the Swoosh has perfected its multidirectional containment system here, starring alongside high-stack cushioning (supplied by a fully connected ZoomX foam midsole) that creates a barrier between the lateral side of your foot and the hard ground below.
In terms of propulsion, it can’t be beat, and while a carbon plate has potential to worsen the rolling associated with supination, the Alphafly 3’s salvages flexibility and alignment — being wide enough to act like a grounding-slash-centering force as you work towards a PR.
MOST AFFORDABLE
Skechers Endeavour Sneaker$57
$57
If a $300 price tag is a bit prohibitive to you right now, here’s a wallet-sparing alternative, in the form of the Skechers Endeavour. Trust us when we say: You won’t be settling by shopping this under-$60 Amazon “Overall Pick” in the category, which supplements its maxed-out cushioning with an air-cooled insole, natural-feeling rocker, optimized ventilation in the upper, and washing machine–friendly composition.
Did we mention the shoe is 100-percent vegan? This is what a reviewer with supination shared about the affordable-yet-overachieving buy: “I underpronate and find that my feet do best with maximum cushioning, arch support, and minimal to no stability. I ordered these shoes to wear for my new job in the hospital, where I will be getting in my steps. Although this pair does not have significant arch support, the cushioning makes up for that, and my feet are not tired at all after wear. The soles have an excellent base, so I am not rolling to the outer edge. The huge plus is that they are washable! I’ll be buying another pair; highly recommend.”
Use this information wisely (and make sure you become a Prime member before adding this baby to cart).
According to Nike, supination (also referred to as underpronation) is a condition marked by your foot “leaning [or rolling] outward, distributing the weight on [its] outside edge… and ankle” as you take steps. As a supinator, the outer part of your heel hits the ground first each time you land, and, with every pushoff, you’re likely to rely on your smaller toes rather than the ball of the foot and the big toe. If you don’t correct your gait in time — with properly cushioned footwear, custom orthotics, or strengthening-slash-stretching exercises, supination can lead to “ankle pain, plantar fasciitis, shin splints, sprains, and iliotibial (IT) band pain,” per Nike.
What to Look for in the Best Sneakers for SupinationNeutral design: Skip the motion-control shoes, known to push supinating feet even further out, and go for a neutral model that can dole out balance without relying on stability footwear’s rigid inner correction. Most brands will tell you a given style’s type of support on its online landing page.
Shock-absorbing cushioning: When searching for walking or running shoes to address your underpronation, prioritize picks with maximum cushioning. As a supinator, you can’t evenly distribute their own body weight as it relates to their feet, so an abundantly cushioned sneaker will absorb the undue pressure you’re putting on the lateral border of the feet while, of course, treating your entire plantar surface to plushness.
Outsole durability: When you repeatedly land on the edge of a shoe, this breaks down outer cushioning and the edge of its outsole in equal measure. This uneven wear on the underbelly of a sneaker is a big no-no — prompting wearers to rotate out their running shoes at rapid rates. By going for a durable, high-abrasion outsole that impressively stands up to wear and tear, you’ll save your purchase from breaking down earlier than it has to and save yourself some money while you’re at it.
Wide platform: Your underpronating feet need a stable, wide base that will prevent them from defaulting to the outward rolling and tilting they’re already so used to. More underfoot area will facilitated flatter landings while having more chances to spread your feet’s landing force, versus concentrating it.
Heel drop: Say “yes” to a heel drop that’s lower than 10 millimeters. For heel strikers and overpronators, higher heel drops are a win, as they prop up the rearfoot while reducing Achilles and calf strain. Underpronators, on the other hand, will do best with shoes that encourage midfoot or forefoot striking and mitigate heavy heel or lateral slams on the pavement.
How to Check for SupinationFrom home, the easiest way to check whether or not you have supination is to conduct the “wet footprint test.” Simply wet the bottom of your foot from toes to heel, step down onto a piece of cardboard or a brown paper bag (basically any material that will show a wet footprint clearly), step off, and examine the shape that you left in your wake.
Imprints typically fall into three buckets. If the middle portion of your footprint is halfway filled in, with evident curvature along the arch, you have normal arches. If all you see on the cardboard or bag is a wet impression of your heel, the ball of the foot, and your toes, with the middle portion completely missing, you likely have high arches. And if the footprint looks like a full foot with no dry spots in the middle and no inward curvature, the diagnosis is usually flat feet.
That being said, supination is closely linked with high arches, as people facing the latter have rigid feet that cannot roll in, instead staying on the outer edge. For confirmation and subsequent advice, it’s best to turn to a board-certified podiatrist.
