A convicted felon from Georgia has been arrested and accused of possessing approximately 117 pounds of cocaine and two firearms in the St. Louis area.

Chad E. “J-Bo” Brown, 54, was charged by criminal complaint Aug. 14 in U.S. District Court in St. Louis with one count of possession with intent to distribute more than 22 pounds of cocaine. Brown appeared in court Monday.

According to the complaint and accompanying affidavit, the Drug Enforcement Administration learned of a cocaine shipment that had arrived in St. Louis one day before Brown’s arrest. Investigators suspected Brown was using a residence in St. Louis County as a location to store drugs.

DEA agents conducted a court-authorized search of the residence Aug. 14. According to the affidavit, agents discovered approximately 108 pounds of cocaine inside duffel bags stored in a bedroom closet. Investigators reported finding another approximately 9 pounds of cocaine in the kitchen, bringing the total amount seized to about 117 pounds.

Agents also found two firearms in a bedroom, according to the affidavit.

The charge contained in the criminal complaint is an accusation and does not constitute evidence of guilt. Brown is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in court.

The Drug Enforcement Administration is conducting the investigation, which was initiated by the St. Louis Gateway Strike Force. Assistant U.S. Attorney Jim Delworth is prosecuting the case.
