Viewers flocked to Channel 10 to watch the Matildas on Wednesday night, landing the ratings starved network a rare top ten spot in the prime time slot.

The Aussie soccer champs Olympic qualifier against Chinese Taipei was the 8th most watched show of the night, scoring an impressive 456,000 viewers in the metro TV ratings.

The Amazing Race: Celebrity Edition was another strong ratings performer for Ten on Wednesday.

Hosted by Beau Ryan, the reality travel contest pulled in 328,000 viewers in the metro areas. 

The news was not so hot for Channel Nine, which saw the return season of dating show, My Mum, Your Dad continue to shed viewers.

Based on a hit American format the reality series and hosted by KIIS FM's Kate Langbroek, the show managed to pull in just 279,000 fans in the major centres.

The season premiere on Tuesday, meanwhile drew 290,000 fans in the metro ratings, 26 per cent down on the show's debut episode in 2022, reports TV Tonight.

Love Island Australia was another poor performer.

The Nine dating show drew a mere 95,000 fans on Wednesday in the major centres. 

Over on Network Seven, the finale of SAS Australia failed to crack the top ten biggest shows overnight.

Still, the real-life survival/adventure series delivered a robust metro rating of 351,000 fans.

Home and Away, also on Seven, was a disappointment for the network on Wednesday.

The much-loved soap pulled in 398,000 fans in the capitals, a poor performance in what has been a strong year for the long-running hit.

Seven won the night overall with 26 per cent of the audience.

And in a rare outcome Channel 10 and Nine finished in equal place with 24.1 per cent share. 

The ABC ended the night in fourth place with 18.2 per cent of the audience.
