Profits at Lakes Free Range Egg Co surged by nearly 50%, according to its latest accounts. 

In the year to 30 October 2025 its pre-tax profit increased by £1.9m, from £4.8m to £6.7m. 

Operating profit has also risen by 39.5% to £6.6m along with a jump in turnover to £108.4m.

The business attributed the performance to “the strength of the group’s operating model and the disciplined execution of its strategy”.

“Revenue growth achieved during the year reflects planned expansion in volumes and customer relationships rather than exceptional trading conditions,” the directors said.

The business also invested in its infrastructure, people and systems as it faced inflationary challenges, resulting in a higher underlying cost base.

Despite this, the directors warned “external and biological risks” would have a “greater influence on performance in the year ahead” such as bird flu outbreaks, which impacted its supply base prior to the end of the financial year.

“Reduced flock numbers and recovery periods are expected to affect production levels and financial results during the forthcoming year.”

Additionally, the directors warned that conflict in the Middle East had increased uncertainty in global commodity and logistics markets.

“These developments have increased supply chain and input costs, particularly in relation to energy, transport and feed ingredients, during the forthcoming financial year,” the directors added. “The directors continue to monitor developments closely and will take appropriate mitigating actions where possible.”
